Tsunami Update #2 — Tsunami Warning Downgraded to a Tsunami Advisory

July 29, 2025, 11 p.m.

An earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka, Russia, generated a Tsunami that made landfall in the Hawaiian Islands this evening.

At 10:38 p.m. this evening, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center downgraded the Tsunami Warning to a Tsunami Advisory, which means there is a potential for hazardous conditions such as strong currents and waves, which can be dangerous to those in or very near water.
